Predominantly at the beginning of therapy with farmapram (alprazolam), patients may develop increased fatigability, somnolence, concentration disorders, dizziness, development of drug dependence as well as delayed psychomotor reactions. The risk of these side effects is higher in elderly patients. Irrespective of the age and duration of treatment, when taking farmapram, patients may develop these side effects caused by the drug.

Side effects of the drug farmapram (alprazolam)

CNS disorders: at the beginning of treatment with Farmapram (especially in elderly patients) – somnolence, fatigue, dizziness, decreased ability to concentrate, ataxia, disorientation, unstable gait, slowed mental and motor reactions; rarely – headache, euphoria, depression, tremor, memory loss, movement coordination disorders, depressed mood, mental confusion, dystonic extrapyramidal reactions (uncontrolled movements, including eye movements), weakness, myasthenia, dysarthria; in rare cases – paradoxical reactions (aggressive outbursts, sputum, dysarthria). weakness, myasthenia gravis, dysarthria; in some cases – paradoxical reactions (aggressive outbursts, confusion, psychomotor agitation, fear, suicidal tendencies, muscle spasm, hallucinations, agitation, irritability, anxiety, insomnia).

Digestive system: dry mouth or salivation, heartburn, nausea, vomiting, decreased appetite, constipation or diarrhea, liver dysfunction, increased liver transaminases and alkaline phosphatase activity, jaundice are possible.

Blood system: leukopenia, neutropenia, agranulocytosis (chills, hyperthermia, sore throat, excessive fatigue or weakness), anemia, thrombocytopenia are possible.

Urinary system disorders: urinary incontinence, urinary retention, impaired renal function, decreased or increased libido, dysmenorrhea are possible.

Endocrine system: changes in body weight, libido disorders, menstrual disorders are possible.

Cardiovascular system: decreased BP and tachycardia are possible.

Allergic reactions: skin rash and itching are possible.


Side effects of the drug farmapram (alprazolam)

Alprazolam is not prescribed to patients with a history of hypersensitivity reactions to the active or additional components of the drug.
Alprazolam tablets are not prescribed for patients with lactose intolerance. Alprazolam is not used for therapy of patients with respiratory insufficiency, manifested renal and hepatic dysfunction, myasthenia, acute glaucoma, and acute alcohol, psychotropic, narcotic or hypnotic drugs poisoning.

Farmapram (Alprazolam) is not used in pediatric practice.
Alprazolam should not be administered to patients with alcoholism (during therapy with Alprazolam the use of alcoholic drinks and drugs containing ethyl alcohol is prohibited). During administration of Alprazolam, do not engage in activities that require increased concentration and speed of psychomotor reactions.
